Performance Psychology
1:1 sessions for professionals and practitioners
The psychology of performing under pressure isn’t unique to sport. Performance Psychology is about understanding and managing your thoughts, focus, emotions, and actions in demanding situations, so that you can work and perform at your best. I’ve supported actors, musicians, executives, medics, coaches and fellow psychologists to help them work and perform with confidence and authenticity.
What can Performance Psychology help with?

Confidence
Developing belief in yourself and your abilities, particularly when you’re being assessed, performing, or presenting.

Managing pressure
Staying effective when expectations are high or ‘it counts’.

Nerves
Understanding and working with nerves before events like auditions, exams, or presentations.

Focus
Managing distractions, over-thinking and mental noise so you can stay present and engaged.

Communication
Communicating clearly, confidently and authentically, particularly in difficult conversations.

Self-doubt
Understanding the ‘inner voice’ that doubts and questions you, and finding ways to respond without letting it take over.

High standards
Exploring ambition and perfectionism without becoming trapped by the fear of getting things wrong or self-critique.

Identity
Clarifying what matters to you, your values, and how you want to work, lead, practise or perform authentically.

Self-trust
Building trust in your own judgement and decisions, particularly when you’re faced with uncertainty or situations where there isn’t a clear right answer.

Resilience
Processing setbacks, disappointments, or difficult feedback, and finding a way forward with perspective and confidence.
What are Performance Psychology sessions like?
01
Start with your story
One-to-one Performance Psychology sessions are a space to step out of the busyness of your working schedule and take a closer look at how you think, feel and operate. We’ll start by understanding your context: what you do, what matters to you, what you’re finding challenging, and what you would like to be different. We might focus on a particular situation, such as an audition, exam, or presentation; or explore broader patterns in the way you approach your work.
02
Work together
Sessions will feel like teamwork: I’ll be your sounding board in hearing your experiences, concerns, ideas and reflections; and I’ll also offer evidence-based guidance and practical strategies.
03
Put skills into practice
After each session, I will send you a short summary and resources if appropriate that will help you to digest, reflect, and practise mindset skills.
Is Performance Psychology for me?
Performance Psychology is for anyone who wants to use psychology to optimise their fulfilment and performance beyond sport: whether creatively in music and the arts, or in working environments where you are making decisions, leading, communicating or helping others. I work with a diverse range of people, including actors and musicians, executives and leaders, medics and healthcare professionals, coaches, and fellow psychologists.
You might want to feel more confident walking into an audition, communicate calmly and effectively under pressure, manage exam nerves, or have space to explore your values and the way you want to work. I offer a 20 minute introductory call, to help you decide if it feels like a good fit to work together.
