Hi, I’m Jo.
Jo Davies C.Psychol
I’m a Chartered Sport Psychologist. My work is about helping people to understand and work with their minds, navigate challenges, and perform at their best, both in sport and beyond. Whether you’re struggling with nerves, self-doubt or pressure, or finding it difficult to balance the demands of life, I can help you make sense of what's going on and develop practical ways forward.
My approach combines therapy and coaching to help you move towards what matters to you. I can work with you online or face-to-face in Reigate, Surrey.

What matters to me in our work

Celebrating individuality
You are unique. Rather than a ‘one size fits all’ approach, we will tailor sessions to you, your situation, and your aspirations. We’ll make the most of your strengths, whilst exploring ways to help you feel and perform at your best.

Warmth and Respect
You’ll feel heard. You’ll feel heard. Having sat on both sides of therapy, I appreciate it can take courage to share your story with me. I want you to feel comfortable bringing whatever is on your mind. No question or concern will be judged, but instead welcomed with warmth, empathy, and respect.

Collaboration
Your opinion matters. I’ll listen carefully, ask questions and help you make sense of what’s going on. Sometimes you’ll find your own answers through our discussions; at other times, I’ll share honest observations, gently challenge your thinking or suggest practical strategies that might help. You won’t just find me nodding along, but you can expect me to work with you, not tell you what to do.

Commitment
Progress takes commitment.
I will 100% commit to helping you move towards what matters to you. But there’s no magic wand, and meaningful change takes time, practice and a willingness to try things between sessions. Your commitment matters, too.

Integrity
You’re in safe hands. I’ll always be honest with you about what I think could help, alongside what might not. My work is grounded in evidence-based psychological principles and more than a decade of applied experience as a Chartered Sport Psychologist. I’m committed to learning, developing and keeping my practice up to date.
How my sporting journey shapes my work
I understand first-hand that sport can be both brilliant and hard. Growing up, my passion was horse riding. My first Team GB representation came at the 2008 World University Equestrian Games in Algeria. On the outside, I probably looked composed. But on the inside? I was struggling with self-doubt and nerves, and I felt intimidated by my competitors. Looking back, I really wish I’d known that a Sport Psychologist could help me believe I deserved my team spot, and to navigate the pressure of wearing the GB flag.
Fast-forward to 2022, and after being inspired by watching triathlon at the Tokyo Olympic Games, I bought my first road bike and set about re-learning front crawl, having not swum since school. Safe to say, the triathlon bug hit! I completed my first European and World Championships as a Team GB age-group athlete in 2024, racing over Olympic distance. Since then, I’ve finished 8th at the 2026 European Age-Group Championships and 3rd in my age group at my first half-Ironman race.
I love applying my psychology knowledge to my own training and racing, and I now genuinely enjoy race day. And whilst everyone’s experiences are unique, I believe this lived experience gives me a deeper appreciation of what it can feel like to be in your shoes; navigating the highs, lows and pressures of sport and performance.

My professional background

Training and experience
It’s important to me that you know I am appropriately trained and qualified to work with you. I am a Chartered Sport Psychologist with the British Psychological Society (BPS), and I’ve worked as an applied practitioner since 2013.

Continued learning
My training spans seven years, combining undergraduate (Psychology), Masters and Post-graduate (Sport Psychology) study. I’m constantly curious and committed to continued learning, so that the support I offer is grounded in current psychological thinking. I have undertaken further training and qualifications in coaching, counselling, mental health, and specific psychological therapies I draw upon in my work, including: ACT (Acceptance & Commitment Therapy) and CFT (Compassion Focused Therapy).
I look forward to talking more.
I offer a 20 minute introductory call, to help you decide if it feels like a good fit to work together.
